Original Genesee
Genesee was originally a 50 acre claim until July 1, 2004, when it was expanded by another 540 acres.
Located above Taylorsville, about 20 miles out of Quincy,the Genesee UPI claim now covers about five miles of the waterway.
This is a quiet claim for people who prefer a little isolation.
It is best for dredging, though panners won't be disappointed with a show of color.
There's excellent fishing and boating at nearby Antelope Lake.
On the northeast end of the lake is an interesting historic cabin and homestead.
