Original Billy Goat
The Billy Goat Claim is located approximately 1.7 miles west of Coulterville, CA on State Highway 132, or approximately 50 miles east of Modesto, CA on State Highway 132.
The claim has some steps cut into the side of the hill on the downstream side, BUT the claim was named Bill Goat for a reason! It is a short 100 yards downhill to the creek.
It could be dry during the long hot summers. Reports are that the creek was mined hard over the years, but not much has been done recently and it appears that the banks are wide open to exploration.
Also there are many old hard rock mines the the area so there is the potential for float and high placer deposits.
